Meet Ami Matona

Ami’s passion for creating unique, artistic designs started over 20 years ago and was influenced by living and travelling in many different countries. She studied at Central St Martins College in London and is an alumni of London College of Fashion, graduating in 2000.

She established her label in 2003, fusing Western, contemporary fashion with traditional, Asian bridal wear; thus shaping her own distinct style as a Designer which is what she has become known for in the industry. Cutting her own patterns and designing her own embroideries gave her complete control over her innovative approach.

Now she has built up a highly-skilled team to assist her in bringing these designs to life. Using the most beautiful fabrics, sourced from UK, China, France, Italy and India.

Having experimented with embroidery designs from Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Baroque, Ornamental to traditional Indian, Floral and unusual 3D techniques, she has created her own embroidery vision, only adding to the individuality of every piece.

Her understanding of silhouettes that suit all body shapes is also intrinsic in finding the right style and design that is perfect for every client. Ami’s reputation on her body fittings is the foundation to an incredible final fit. Something that definitely defines Couture.

Ami loves what she does and that shows in her commitment to every Bride in creating the most perfect piece for each of them.

Meet the designer, Ami from Ami Bridal Couture
Our Boutique

The Boutique

The process to create an individual piece with us at Ami Bridal is a very personal experience and involves several steps. The stages range from sketches, fabric/colours swatches, embroidery samples to cotton toiles (cotton mock ups of the final design made to your exact body fitting).

We have our own team and manufacturing unit in India that have worked with Ami for many years, this ensures that the continuity and the quality levels are maintained at every stage.

Stage 1 - Initial Consultation

Ami discusses with you to get to know your likes, dislikes, style and personality. This helps Ami design specifically for the individual client and also show you pieces from the collection that may inspire the creation. This is a key moment in the journey of your dream dress/outfit. At the end of this consultation Ami will sketch a design for you, along with embellishment ideas and colours/ fabrics that would work.

Stage 2 - Swatches & Measurements

You will come in to approve the swatches of fabrics/ embroidery made specifically for the design. This will help you visualise the final piece and ensure we are on the right track. Changes can be made if necessary. We will also measure you so we can create the toile fitting sample ready for your next appointment.

Stage 3 - Cotton Toile Fitting

You try on the cotton toile fitting so we can ensure the style and fitting is perfect for you. Following this, the piece will go into production.
